23,000 spiders=1 ounce of silk



Strands of silk from over one million of Madagascar’s golden orb spiders (Nephila
madagascariensis) were woven together to make this dazzling textile, the only one
of its kind in the world.

all feathers. no excuses.








yes. all sorts of fantastic feathers can be worn on one's head "because I liked them", "because they are pretty" or "just for fun, don't get offended" without stooping to the 'hipster headdress' or in any way appropriating Native American cultures. These photos are from the Melbourne Cup, where fancy hats vie with gambling and drinking as high points of the day.
